WWF advert starting ideas and sketches

My first ideas for the WWF advert; I wanted to do somthing that relates to that 'Panda made my do it' slogan. It sounded baby-ish to me so I thought, hey! Why don't I animate a baby with a toy Panda that has stolen it's mothers mother to donate to WWF!

 -I decided against this idea..

My next idea that a friend helped me with is to do with a monkey and adoption.

The idea is that a family have adopted a monkey into their family but they act completely normal with the situation. They have family photos up across the house like any normal family would. The mum is being interviewed on how the monkey is doing within the family like a check-up. She replies saying how he is doing good and then cuts to a few different shots of the monkey screwing around the house and messing everything up but the family act like nothing is going on and completely ignore it. The animation ends with the monkey throwing poo at the little girls face and it cuts to black then the WWF logo shows and a slogan comes up.

Shot breakdown:

·         Scene starts viewing houses down a street
·         The camera goes into a house and into a front room
·         A women sitting on a sofa holding a cup of tea, background is of some stairs and front room looking, with photos of the family and a monkey with them looking all happy.
·         Voice over asking “So how has Fred been since he’s been with you?
·         The lady replies with “yeah he’s been perfect actually; he’s really good with his new brother and sister helping them with homework.”
·         Cuts too- A little girl laying front down on a bed kicking her feet. Completely ignoring a monkey in the background chucking paper everywhere and swinging on the light trashing the place.
·         Cuts back too- the women as before smiling and drinking her tea. Says “He’s also helped David and I with the housework.”
·         Cuts too- Mum at the sink washing, handing the plate to the monkey then smashing it.
·         Cuts back too- the women again and says “Fred enjoys playing with the kids outside too.”
·         Cuts too- Two children playing catch with each other with a ball, then the door opens and the monkey walks out, one of the children says “Hey Fred catch!” and throws the ball to the monkey – Before it hits him it cuts
·         Cuts too – Shot of the monkey catches the ball with a blank facial expression.
·         The monkey then turns his hand over while standing still, and drops the ball.
·         Cuts too – little girl smiling standing, poo hits her face and goes everywhere and runs down her face.
·         Fade to black
·         WWF logo comes up. – Caption, “You don’t have to adopt, to adopt.”

Programs to be used:

·         Adobe Photoshop for backgrounds designs
·         Autodesk Maya for 3D backgrounds
·         Adobe flash for the animation clean ups

Style:

The style will be quite cartoon looking in the animation and the 3D background will also be the same, maybe using the toon tool on Maya to add the black outline.

More Chimp sketches and story boards.

More Chimp sketches...I like the middle one.

Rough story boards for the WWF Chimp idea..

Monkey sketches

Monkkeyyy Designs

More Chimp sketches for my WWF animation.

Really rough/quick sketch for the layout for a background to be made in 3D on Maya for the WWF animation.

Mother design. I might use this same character in my final project too, I really like the look of her.

WWF Storyboard - Final?

So here is my second REvamp of the WWF storyboard.
Works now as you find out what the Chimp does bad in the second part of the animation, so the gag becomes funny instantly instead of the same joke running throughout.

WWF Animatic (With some sounds)

So the voices need to be recorded and added in but this is rough timing without the speech.

Ball test

This was suppose to be a throwing ball test for my WWF animation... I got carried away.

Family Protraits

These are 3 Family photos to go in the living room scene with the mother talking to the interviewer.

Wild 3D Backgrounds appeared!

Finished 3D background have appeared!!
Looking swish as ever.
Will be perfect with the animation! (He says)
Sofa mother scene #1

These 3 pictures below are me trying to decide the best angle for perspective on throwing a ball.
Not sure which I like best.

Mother Kitchen Animation Test

This is a quick animation test for the mother in the kitchen scene.

Monkey kitchen Animation Test #1

Monkey animation test for him snatching the plate off the mother in the kitchen scene.

Animating a smashing plate is quite fun!

I'm currently animating a plate smashing!
It's proving fun but difficult since I want it fast then to slow down.

Monkey Catching Ball Test

First test of the monkey catching the ball, but decided to change it as it looked to stiff and boring.- Not animated enough.

Added: Patting and other shots finished!

I added a bit of animation to the kitchen scene where the mother pats the monkey on the head to show her loving the monkey no mater what he does.

A frame from the boy getting poo thrown in his face!

First bit of Lip Sync done! Although the voices will be changed at a later date.

Nearly done WWF

This is my WWF animation nearly finished, with some scenes missing and editing touches needed.
Things to be done; Lip sync
Change the eyes (To dead looking)
More editing to be done.
Redo the establishing shot and the 3D street

- NEW HOUSES!

WWF test before final editing

Before final editing!
After playing around with editing and getting feedback from peers, I also believe this telling of the 'story' works so much better only using a single lipsync so you gauge whos talking then to let the story flow afterwards. I'm happy so far, but needs a tiny bit more tweaking.
